What data we process, and why
- Email. When you write to us, for example with the “Start my big bang” button, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, such as your list of books. We use it only to reply to you and to build your universe if you ask us to. We do not use it for newsletters or marketing without your consent, and we do not sell or share it. Where the EU GDPR applies, the legal basis is your request and the steps before a possible contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Technical data. When you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request, to deliver the pages and keep the site secure. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
Service providers and transfers abroad
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): hosting and delivery of this website.
- Google (Google Workspace): our email service, where your messages and our replies are stored.
- Adobe, Inc. (USA): Adobe Fonts delivers the typeface used on this site. Your browser connects to Adobe's servers, which receive your IP address and count page views for font licensing. Adobe Fonts does not set cookies.
Some of these providers may process data in the United States or other countries. Where those countries do not offer a level of protection recognised as adequate by Switzerland or the EU, transfers rely on the Swiss-US and EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep data
We delete messages that do not lead to a business relationship at the latest 24 months after our last exchange. Business correspondence and records are kept for as long as Swiss law requires, generally 10 years (Art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations). Technical data is kept by our hosting provider only for a short period for security purposes.
Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP/nDSG) and, where applicable, the EU GDPR, you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to its processing, restrict it or receive a copy of it. Write to [email protected]. You may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the EU, the data protection authority of your country.
